Principle
Sodium molybdate is first decomposed in an alkaline medium (ammonium or sodium hydroxide) and then subjected to precipitation and filtration (or solvent extraction) to remove impurities. The resulting ammonium molybdate solution can be converted into various molybdenum products by crystallization or acid precipitation. These molybdenum products can be further processed into high purity molybdenum trioxide by calcination.
